Connective lift the bar with L&D in COVID-19

New program re-launched, kicks off with Lender Splendour on April 28.

With uncertainty around how long we will remain in COVID-19 isolation, brokers need more support to protect and grow their business. Moving meetings and events online has been an important and pragmatic response, but it’s time for a longer-term and more holistic approach according to leading aggregator Connective, who has re-designed and relaunched its learning and development (L&D) program as part of an ongoing response to the pandemic.

Connective has reviewed, adapted and relaunched its entire L&D program to ensure the content, the technology platforms, and format will continue to meet the evolving needs of brokers operating in isolation for the foreseeable future, and safeguarding the essential lender-broker relationship.

Brokers were quick to adapt to protect their business when Connective moved their L&D program online early last month, but now it’s time to deliver more holistic and longer-term solutions as the industry settles in for long-term disruption to business, according to Connective Managing Director Mark Haron.

The refreshed program already has a pipeline of 80 digital events reaching over 4000 brokers, what differentiates it is five core development principles:

▪ Unlimited access to educational opportunities delivered by industry experts

▪ Live and on-demand content available anytime, anywhere

▪ Bite sized content and in-depth workshops tailored to broker businesses

▪ Interactive formats to ensure engagement and embed knowledge

▪ Practical resources to support brokers manage through change and thrive in times of uncertainty

“We as aggregators need to undertake a holistic review of how we are delivering value to brokers and not just attempt to retro-fit their learning and development programs onto a digital platform,” said Mr Haron.

“We’ve pulled our L&D program apart and put it back together in a way that makes sense in the middle of a pandemic. We remain focused on our 2020 ‘Elevate and Inspire’ L&D theme, but our context has changed, and we have acknowledged that in all our content and our delivery.

“Our technology and agility allowed us to move quickly and provide pragmatic solutions to our brokers in the early stage of lock-down. Now, we're moving forward to provide a more sustainable and contextual learning program for our brokers. This isn't just about moving a physical event to an online format.

“We’ve worked with our lender partners to tailor content to address the challenges and demands of the new landscape and ensure we genuinely connect lenders with our brokers,” he said.

Connective’s refreshed L&D program will include:

▪ A new resource portal containing the latest lender information for brokers;

▪ choice between large format events such as the key-note speaker series and small, personal group sessions such as broker facilitated discussion forums with lender partners;

▪ broker peer to peer learning in the broker speaker series;

▪ continued focus on tailored topics and passions such as a lender webinar supporting female brokers and clients;

workshops on the essential topics of marketing, compliance and diversification; and

▪ content available on demand for brokers to upskill when and where it suits them.

The first event in Connective’s award winning program is the Lender Splendour sessions, a week long program where brokers can hear from Connective’s lender partners on their latest COVID-19 updates, and how they are supporting brokers with tools and resources to help their clients through financial hardships.

The program will commence April 28, with major lenders such as CBA and ANZ kicking off the sessions. The week-long series will include nine webinars, access to view on demand content and digital resources from more than 35 lenders, that will support brokers and their clients.

"We see the Lender Splendour event as critically important, which is why we have put so much into ensuring that it is accessible and engaging no matter where you're working from. It’s more important than ever that lenders and brokers stay connected and a new, holistic digital platform where brokers can engage with BDMs from lenders in an interactive and authentic way is what we’ve delivered.

"At a time when there is so much change, we’ve re-built a program using the right technology, format and content to support our brokers through these difficult conditions. The sheer volume of content that we now have on-demand is very exciting," said Mr Haron.
