Getting started with your application
Information to help you when joining Connective

We can't wait for you to join Connective
We have created this resources list to help you get all your documentation together for your Connective application and other industry information you might require.
What happens next

Once you submit your application you will receive an email providing you with access to our Connective Portal. This is where you will:
- find a complete checklist of supporting documents required
- be able to easily upload your documents
- keep track of the status of your application in real time.
The Onboarding Team will assist you throughout the entire application process from uploading documentation through to issuing of agreements and activating your membership with Connective.
Industry body
It is a requirement that when you join Connective you are also a member of an industry body. There are two options that are available:
Please note that your MFAA/FBAA membership can be pending, however it is a requirement for most of our lenders for you to have this industry membership.
If you require assistance with joining industry bodies, here are some contacts to help you.

Letter of intent
If MFAA/FBAA require a letter of intent, please reach out to your Connective State Manager and they can organise this for you. You just need to provide the following information to them:
- Full name
- ABN or ACN
- Company name
- Full name of loan writers to be listed on the Schedule of Representatives

Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) – external dispute resolution
Click here for the application form for AFCA.
For Credit Representatives, complete the online application form on this website and you may need Connective’s AFCA membership number – 45625.
Directors and employees of a corporate entity are covered under a company AFCA membership as long as the licensee (Connective) completes the sub-authorisation correctly with ASIC and obtain employment letter and evidence of directorship. Contractors are not covered under a company membership in any case therefore they would be required to obtain AFCA membership in their individual name.
Professional indemnity
Connective has a relationship with insurance.com.au who will be able to assist with Professional Indemnity insurance and any other business insurance you require such as Public Liability or laptop cover. Connective credit representatives will be covered by our Professional Indemnity policy (unless declined by our insurer) and do not need to arrange PI separately.
Your professional indemnity insurance policy should cover not only your business, but also any principal, employee, director, partner or related entity whilst acting within the scope of credit assistance duties.
Your policy must include:
- $2 million per claim
- $6 million in aggregate
- 84 months runoff cover
This is a very quick efficient and easy way to apply for your PI & PL insurance policies, and you can pay online. If you pay by credit card, your policy documents will be emailed to you from the website within 20 minutes.
Just a couple of helpful hints: your business activities will be mortgage and/or finance broking. For the following two questions please answer NO:
- Does your business or do you personally instruct solicitors to prepare mortgage documentation: NO
- Does your business or do you personally obtain Lenders Mortgage Insurance approval: NO
